Key Impact Areas.
Create and execute tooling strategies to achieve production objectives.
Oversee new tool projects and the tooling repair department.
Design tooling for large-scale machinery, ensuring compatibility with high-tonnage presses.
Work closely with engineering and production teams to enhance tooling and boost performance.
Update tooling documentation and evaluate data for continuous improvement opportunities.
Work with suppliers to ensure the quality and reliability of tooling.
Investigate new technologies for mold repair and maintenance.
Team up with engineering to ensure product designs are moldable, suggesting design or process improvements.
Lead process improvement efforts by exploring alternative methods, materials, and equipment.
Success Essentials.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
Over 15 years of injection molding expertise, specializing in tool design.
10+ years of supervisory and management experience.
Proficient in managing large-scale machinery and tooling for high-capacity production.
Strong skills in project management.
Extensive hands-on experience in mold design and construction.
Skilled in 3D modeling software, including SolidWorks.
Expertise in interpreting and utilizing Moldflow analyses.
Knowledgeable in various mold materials and metal types.
Advanced expertise in cold runner and hot runner manifold systems.
Collaborative experience with engineering and technician teams.
Deep understanding of plastics manufacturing, including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and thermoforming.
Experience working with diverse polymer types.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Flexible with frequent travel requirements, up to weekly, depending on project needs.
